An Introduction to Raped 25Years

1. AN INTRODUCTION TO RAPED 25 YEARS

Hello and welcome to Raped 25 Years: A Survivor’s Journey. I appreciate that you are able to walk with me through this journey of healing. And don’t forget to stay to enjoy my gem of positivity.

This journey will not always be smooth sailing. No journey ever is. There will be plenty of ups and downs. There will even be times when it may seem like the healing has stalled. That is the way of any journey.

Unfortunately, there may be places in the my journey that you may find shocking and distressing. Please remember that I am not sharing parts of my life with you to disturb you. I am not an exhibitionist. This is my journey. I have already lived it. All I wish to do is give you, the reader, hope in your own journey — wherever that place may be.

Each post will follow what will become a comforting manner. I will speak of some part of my journey of healing. However, I will not leave you in my dark. I will always share at the end a gem of positivity for you to enjoy. But no cheating, mind. You will gain nothing by skipping to the end each time. There is no true enjoyment of the reward, and you gain nothing in your own journey.

I would like to make it clear, that I am not an educated professional. I hold no degree. My only qualification is the experience of my life. Please do not take anything I share as any sort of advice as to what you should do. This is merely my journey. Your journey will be your own and can never be the same as mine. That doesn’t mean my journey is of greater value than yours. It is merely different.

My path will cover childhood sexual abuse, school bullying and abuse, workplace bullying, harassment and sexual assault (including vicious gang rape), and domestic violence. It has left a lasting impression on my life. You might even say that I’m a victim. But I’m not. I’m still here, and able to share my journey of healing with you. That makes me a survivor. And you are, too.

I think that’s enough of an introduction from me. However, before I leave you, I will share with you my first gem of positivity. It is the well known quotation from Lao Tzu:

The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step.

How true that saying is. And that first step is truly the hardest to take. Thank you for coming along and taking this first step with me. Until next time, just breathe and believe.

With love and care, Ruby
